‘You can’t kick ass without tanker gas’

Here is an interesting British perspective on aerial refueling tankers, via the UK’s Defense Management Journal.

  1. I’m relieved to know that these British tankers, though they will be leased out to ferry package holidaymakers “to exotic climes,” nevertheless “cannot be leased out to fundamentalist airlines.”

Good thinking. I’d try to avoid those airlines myself.

  2. Whilst the use of a PFI to support such a critical defence militery role is open to severe questioning & with current MoD cost constraints in all probability will be cancelled completely or more likely handed back to the RAF direct.

What the article illustrates is the enhanced capability the 330 provides in it’s RAF role compared to any current of planned alternative.
