Nordic Aviation Capital completes second major acquistion

March 15, 2016: Nordic Aviation Capital yesterday announced it acquired regional aircraft lessor Jetscape Aviation Group. This is the second major acquisition since December. Then, NAC agreed to acquire 25 ATR turboprop aircraft from Air Lease Corp., which decided to focus entirely on jets, most of which are mainline aircraft. All but a handful of the ATRs were already leased, with the remaining still in production.

Nordic had nearly 250 aircraft from the ATR and Bombardier Dash and Q families, plus a small number of Bombardier CRJs, Airbus A320s and Boeing 737s. The Jetscape acquisition brings Embraer EJets to the Nordic portfolio.

“The deal will see Nordic Aviation Capital expand into the regional jet arena, bringing 28 owned Embraer E-Jets, commitments for 11 E-Jets and a further 18 of the type under management into its sizeable regional aircraft portfolio,” the company said in a press release.

“This is a significant strategic development for NAC and we are pleased to diversify with the addition of an exceptional deal-focused, customer-centric organization with highly experienced management and dedicated staff. Jetscape’s solid reputation in regional jet leasing can only enhance the strong brand which NAC already enjoys in the turboprop sector,” said NAC Chairman Martin Moller.

“We are delighted to bring Jetscape into NAC. Joining forces with them gives us an expanded geographical reach and most importantly, a firm financial platform to further develop regional aircraft leasing activity,” said Jetscape CEO John Evans.

NAC was founded in 1990 and is headquartered in Denmark. Jetscape was founded in 2000 and is headquartered in Florida.

  1. As you mentioned is NAC headquartered in Denmark, – more specifically in Billund.
Billund is btw also hometown for LEGO (and the world’s first Legoland is very close to NAC headquarter) and of course Billund Airport.
Billund Airport was founded in 1961 by the founder of LEGO – Godtfred Kirk Christiansen.
I always use Billund airport as a starting point when i travel, and you can usually see a variety of ATR’s – ready for next lessor.
