  1. Pertinent to today’s LNA article regarding Embraer:

“Adani Group Sets Sights on Jet Manufacturing With Brazil’s Embraer”

“The Adani Group has tied up with Brazilian aerospace major Embraer to manufacture the latter’s popular regional jets in India, a report said”

    https://www.outlookbusiness.com/corporate/after-airports-adani-group-sets-sights-on-jet-manufacturing-with-brazils-embraer

This follows the announcement late last year that HAL will be manufacturing the (Russified) SJ-100 in India, once that plane is certified. Yakovlev and UAC are still saying that cert is expected in 2026.

I’d love to see Embraer launch a mainline widebody…I suspect it could carve out a nice slice of market share.

    • Embraer is trying to sort out a single aisle, a wide body is so far off the table. Just not happening any more than the sun rises in the West.

Single Aisle is within the technical reach and for sure, market reach. Brazil has all the pieces

S 100 is in the same arena as the E1 and E2. As it stands now, there is barely enough room for one regional jet mfg. Granted a Russified S-100 would be considered a Cadillac of regionals (one that came fresh out of a Junk Yard). Lets just say it did not go well the first time and Russia is not noted for its reliable systems or support.

The only thing Russia ever off shored successfully was the AK (China made the best ones, better than Russians).

I would not get excited about mfg of any of it in India until they are or are not rolling off the production line.

Not question in my mind Embraer can do and do a good Single Aisle.
I flew on the Banderatis in the day. That was one great aircraft that ran like a race car. The other outfit up here ran Twin Otters, as much as I love the TO, well lets just say one day we took off behind one 10 minutes on a 50 mile trip and passed it up in the Bandi like it was standing still.

I got to fly in the E1-175 two years ago, I liked it. Nice solid feeling aircraft.

    • Embraer doesnt have the resources to launch a 6 abreast single aisle.
remember its very heavily reliant on T1 suppliers for the E1/E2 airframe and they arent going to be risk sharers.

The only possibility is to license manufacture an existing new design, the Russian MC-21 200 seater . Which is impossible for obvious reasons- as well who will place orders as the Chinese market would be directed to the their own production and those of Airbus and Boeing.

  2. Would the WB market be big enough for three players?
Maybe so, if the price was right..

    • ACG Leasing ordered 50 max as well…
      Add the Alaska Airlines order;
Looking at a great start to year for Boeing..

    • The interesting question will be why?
Did they get a better deal than they could from airbus when viewed dispassionately?
Were Airbus confident that they could get something of a premium because there would be expenses involved in a mixed fleet?
Were there any other external pressures to buy American?

      • I suspect Boeing offered very favorable terms. Delta has lots of experience operating mixed fleets. They are also so large that subfleets are sometimes larger than other carriers fleets. And if they are able to partition their subfleets geographically, it really doesn’t matter.
I suspect there were plenty of ‘external pressures’ to buy American. The current administration Delta’s decision very easy.

  3. Everyone: The LNA website has been having technical problems since Friday (today is mid-day Saturday). IT is working on it, so please be patient. There may be addition times in which the site goes down for a while.
