IBM’s board appoints former Boeing Company’s CEO W James McNerney Jr

Oct 27, 2009 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) — Former president and CEO of The Boeing Company W James McNerney Jr has joined the board of directors of information technology products and services manufacturer, IBM (NYSE:IBM) as chairman, the company revealed on Monday.

The IBM board now has 13 members with the inclusion of McNerney.

Having joined the Boeing Company in July 2005, McNerney earlier was chairman of the board and chief executive officer of 3M and before that served in various top executive positions at the General Electric Company such as president of GE Asia-Pacific, president and CEO of GE Aircraft Engines and GE Lighting and president of GE Information Services.

Additionally McNerney is a director of Procter & Gamble, a trustee of Northwestern University and The Field Museum of Chicago, a member of The Business Roundtable, a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and an honorary fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society. He is a former chair of The Business Council, the US-China Business Council and the American Society of Corporate Executives.
